AI/ML Engineering Intern — 2026 (two positions)
Paid internship · Remote · 3–6 months, 20–40 h/week · Start dates: October 2026 and January 2027 (flexible)
You will work on the engine that writes and illustrates our jokes: prompt design and evaluation, best-of-N generation with an automated comedy judge, image and video generation pipelines (Gemini, Veo, Qwen-Image on our on-prem DGX), and the measurement that tells us whether a joke actually landed. Real users, real feedback, weekly releases — with a mentor who reviews every pull request.
What you will do
- Design and run evaluations of joke quality (LLM-as-judge, human-rated sets, A/B by humour category and language).
- Improve the multilingual generation pipeline (10 languages) and its guardrails.
- Build small tools: datasets from our feedback loop, dashboards on control.myjokes.ai, a fine-tuning experiment or two.
- Help move parts of the pipeline from cloud APIs to local open-weight models and measure the trade-offs.
You bring
- Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a degree with a machine-learning or NLP component (any level).
- Comfortable Python; you have used at least one LLM API and one of PyTorch / diffusers / Hugging Face.
- Curiosity about why something is funny — and the patience to measure it instead of guessing.
- Working English; a second language among French, Spanish, Italian, Hindi, Chinese, Russian, Danish, Hebrew or Persian is a plus.
Compensation
USD 22–32 per hour depending on level and location, paid internship (this is not an academic-credit-only role). Equipment stipend for the duration. Flexible hours across time zones.

Humorist — part-time (several positions)
Part-time · Remote · Independent contractor or part-time employee depending on your country · 5–15 h/week
Our AI writes thousands of jokes a month. A human comedian decides which ones deserve a person. You will rate, rewrite and occasionally write jokes for specific people and cultures, and your verdicts train the judge that picks what gets sent. We are hiring humorists per language: English, French, Spanish, Italian, Hindi, Chinese, Russian, Danish, Hebrew and Persian.
What you will do
- Rate batches of generated jokes (funny / flat / unsafe) with a one-line reason — the reason matters more than the score.
- Punch up the ones that are close: tighter set-up, better rhythm, a real turn.
- Flag what an outsider would miss: local references, taboo lines, the joke that is fine in one country and rude in another.
- Occasionally write from scratch for a holiday, a birthday, a very specific person.
You bring
- Proof that you are funny in your language: a stand-up set, a sketch, a column, a comic, a newsletter, a very good Twitter/Bluesky feed — something we can read or watch.
- Native-level command of at least one of our ten languages and its comedic culture.
- Reliability: batches come weekly and have deadlines. A good ear beats a big following.
Compensation
USD 25–45 per hour (or the local equivalent) depending on language and experience, invoiced monthly; credited in the product for jokes you author, if you wish.

QA Cloud & Mobile Lead
Full-time · Remote · Reports to the founder
You will own quality for a product that spans an AWS serverless backend (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SES, EventBridge), a React Native app on Google Play and the App Store, a dozen public web toys, and an on-prem GPU worker. Today our safety net is a daily GitHub-Actions health check, ~2,500 pytest and Jest tests and a public status page; you will turn that into a real quality practice without slowing a team that ships daily.
What you will do
- Own the test strategy end to end: unit, contract, headless end-to-end (Playwright), device testing on Android and iOS, release gates for Play Console and TestFlight.
- Build the mobile lab: device matrix, crash monitoring, store-review readiness (we have been through a Play policy rejection — you will make sure the next one never happens).
- Extend the health monitoring and the status page; drive incident write-ups and the fixes that follow.
- Review pull requests for testability, and pair with the founder and the AI assistants that write much of the code.
You bring
- 5+ years in QA / test engineering, with at least 2 leading quality for a mobile app in production on both stores.
- Hands-on with AWS serverless services and CI (GitHub Actions or similar); comfortable reading Python and JavaScript.
- Experience testing systems whose output is non-deterministic (LLM / generative media) is a strong plus.
- Clear written English; you document what you find and what you decided.
Compensation
USD 110,000–150,000 per year depending on experience and location, plus equity in ShedInnovations LLC; for candidates outside the United States we hire through an employer-of-record or as a contractor at an equivalent rate. Remote, with occasional overlap with US Pacific hours.
