The cast
Three roles in every subscription
- Carer / Joker — the person who subscribes. Sets up the cared-for's profile, reviews jokes (if review mode is on), and pays the bill. Usually an adult child, partner, or close friend.
- Cared-for / Jokee — the recipient. Doesn't have to install anything; jokes arrive as emails or in the mobile app if they want it.
- AI engine — generates the joke text, picks or creates the image/video, runs it past safety filters, and lines it up for delivery.
The flow
How the flow works
- 1. Setup — Carer enters cared-for's email, name, humour prefs. ~5 min.
- 2. Joke creation — three ways jokes get made, all blended on the same plan:
- • Auto-scheduled — frequency scales with your plan (more on Premium/Group, lighter on Basic), and the mix of image vs video also depends on tier.
- • Manual on-demand — crack a custom joke from the carer dashboard or the mobile app whenever inspiration strikes; spends one of your monthly joke credits.
- • Carer-influenced — every joke is AI-generated, but you can steer it: pick a humour category, upload a reference photo, mention a recent event. The AI does the heavy lifting; you supply the soul.
- 3. Carer review — Optional. Approve, tweak, or skip before delivery.
- 4. Delivery — Email always; mobile push for app users.
What it's not
The line we don't cross
Annoying-Is-Caring is for warm, affiliative humour — jokes with the cared-for, not at them. The system explicitly blocks disparagement humor, mockery, and prompts that target someone unkindly. (See our article on humour styles if you want the science.)
