Everybody forgets a birthday eventually. Not because we don't care — because caring, on a Tuesday, is hard to turn into something you can actually send. A card means a trip to the shop. A montage means an evening in some editing app you'll never open again. So the moment passes, and you fire off a text with a cake emoji and a small pang of I could have done more.
This month we tried to shrink that gap to about ninety seconds. It's called the Birthday Video Maker (birthday.myjokes.ai), it's free, and it turns a handful of photos into a fun little birthday clip you can download or have emailed to you — no account, no editing, no jargon.
You bring the faces. We bring the party.
Drop one to three photos — the birthday person, and if you like, the whole cast: family, friends, even the family dog. On a phone you can snap a photo right there in the browser. Then you pick a vibe:
🕺 a dance, where everyone bursts into a little routine · 🎉 a cue-card meme, playful and a bit cheeky · 🎞️ a TikTok-style slideshow that sweeps through your photos with music. Add a name and a short message — “loves science, from the whole family” — and that's the whole job.
While it bakes, you get to watch the oven.
Good things take a minute or two, so instead of a spinner we gave you something to smile at: a bobbing cake with flickering candles, a drizzle of confetti, and a little checklist ticking along — reading your photos, casting the scene, animating & adding music, adding the finishing touch. It's a small bit of theatre for the small bit of time it takes to make someone's day.
It speaks your language — ten of them.
The whole experience is localized in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Danish, Russian, Hindi, Chinese, Persian and Hebrew — the buttons, the vibe prompts, the little "we're baking your video" messages, all of it. Because "happy birthday" should land in the language it's felt in.
Free for the everyday, a little something for the encore.
Your first few birthday videos are on us. If you become the person in the family who makes one for everybody — and we hope you do — you can grab a single extra video for a small one-time fee, or fold it into a subscription that also sends the people you love a personalized AI joke every few days. The birthday clip is really just our whole mission with a party hat on: make it easy to make someone laugh, today.
Five takeaways
- The Birthday Video Maker is live and free at birthday.myjokes.ai — a personalized clip from a few photos.
- No editing. Drop 1–3 photos, pick dance / meme / slideshow, add a name — done.
- Made for phones — snap a photo in the browser, download or email the result, install it like an app.
- Ten languages, right down to the "baking your video" animation.
- Safe by design — a synthetic watermark and a consent check, always.
Somewhere this week, someone you know is having a birthday. Now it takes about as long to make them something as it does to feel bad you didn't. That's the whole idea.
